Inline Conveyor Automation

Inline Bale Moisture System

Challenge:

Cotton bale moisture inspection previously relied on manual stick meters ("khoche"), requiring a dedicated operator to stand at the conveyor belt full-time to test every passing bale.

SSG Engineering Approach:

Engineered an inline non-contact system featuring an aligned 1-Transmitter + 1-Receiver pair. As bales pass through on the conveyor, it automatically measures real-time moisture and computes Maximum, Minimum, and Average bale moisture readings without manual intervention.

Integration:

Dual communication interfaces: RS485 MODBUS RTU (transmits Min, Max, Avg data to PLC/SCADA) and isolated 4–20 mA Analog Output (for legacy process controllers).

Outcome: 100% Automated Line Inspection — Complete Client Satisfaction Achieved.
Rotobar Thermal Protection

Thermal Hotspot & Jam Prevention System

Challenge:

In high-capacity Rotobar ginning machines featuring 1180mm rollers, continuous friction caused roller overheating. Overheated rollers caused raw cotton to stick and jam, damaging expensive roller assemblies and causing plant downtime.

SSG Engineering Approach:

Developed an Industrial Thermal Radiometric Camera Sensor mounted above the 1180mm Rotobar roller to continuously monitor surface temperature profiles, target distance, and thermal rise during running operations.

Integration:

MODBUS RTU output (delivers Min, Max, and Hotspot location coordinates to PLC) alongside Digital & 4–20 mA Analog Alarm outputs for automated machine safety interlocks.

Outcome: Zero Roller Downtime & Jam Prevention — Proven Client Satisfaction.
Raw Cotton Feed Line

Live Raw Cotton Processing

Challenge:

Raw seed cotton arrives from different farmers with unknown moisture variations (e.g., 20% moisture vs a required 10% target). Without real-time feed-line sensing, ginners process high-moisture lots blindly, leading to severe dust clogging, fiber degradation, and weight penalty disputes.

SSG Engineering Approach:

Engineered an Inline Continuous Moisture Sensor mounted over the intake conveyor from the storage shed. The system continuously scans passing raw cotton lots to measure live moisture before cleaning.

Integration:

MODBUS RTU data feedback to the main ginning control room alongside live digital displays to automate drying/humidification and belt feed control.

Outcome: Target Moisture Achieved — Field Proven & Client Satisfied.
